🌺 Varalakshmi  Vrat  Katha 🌺

Varalakshmi Vrat has its own unique belief in Hinduism, which is prevalent in Maharashtra and South India. Many mythological stories are associated with this fast, but we are telling you about the most beautiful story associated with it. This story was narrated by Mahadev himself to Goddess Parvati. According to this story, perhaps there used to be a city named Kundi in the kingdom of Magadha, and its construction was possible by the grace of heaven.

In this town named Kundi, a woman named Charumati lived with her entire family. Charumati was a devoted devotee of Goddess Lakshmi and used to immerse herself in her daily worship. She used to live like an ideal woman, serving her in-laws and husband daily.

One day when Charumati was sleeping, she got the darshan of Goddess Lakshmi in her dream. The Goddess told her about this Varalakshmi Vrat in her dream itself and asked her to follow it faithfully. When Charumati woke up the next morning, she remembered what Goddess Lakshmi had said.

Charumati then told all the other women of the town about the Varalakshmi Vrat. All the women agreed to perform this worship of Goddess Lakshmi. Then all the women, including Charumati, started preparing for the worship of Goddess Lakshmi by keeping the Varalakshmi Vrat duly.

After the completion of the ritualistic worship, when all the women started circumambulating the Kalash, they saw that their bodies were laden with gold ornaments. Also, all their houses were made of gold, and many animals like elephants, horses, etc. started roaming in front of them. Seeing this scene, the rest of the women were very surprised and started praising Charumati, because it was, she who had told the women about this fast.

Charumati then told those women that all this is the prasad of the grace of Mother Lakshmi. After this, the glory of Varalakshmi Vrat started spreading from city to city, and women started observing this fast with great devotion. Since then, Varalakshmi Vrat started being observed on the Dashami Tithi of the month of Shravan.
