Significance of Putrada Ekadashi 2024:

            According to the ancient texts, devotees should follow fast on this day to have children and their offspring to live a long life. By doing so, one can get rid of life obstacles and their children live a long life by observing the fast of Shravana Putrada Ekadashi. On this day, child-related problems may get resolved if you keep fast with the utmost sincerity. Couples who want to avoid having children or who want to be childless must adhere to this fast. If the pair fasts together, the fast will bear fruit shortly. Those who read or listen to the significance and tale of the fast with complete dedication receive a blessing comparable to the donation of several cows.

What is Shravana Putrada Ekadashi?

       

         Two Ekadashis of the year are known as Putrada Ekadashi. Ekadashis of Paush and Shravan Shukla Paksha are called Putrada Ekadashi. 

         According to the English calendar, currently Ekadashi of Paush Shukla Paksha falls in the month of December or January while Ekadashi of Shravan Shukla Paksha falls in the month of July or August. Putrada Ekadashi of Paush month is more important in North Indian states while Putrada Ekadashi of Shravan month is more important in other states. The word ‘Putrada’ means ‘one who gives sons’ and hence it is believed that observing Putrada Ekadashi fast in the month of Shravan fulfils the wish of having a son.

Putrada Ekadashi:
🌼Fasting method (Putrada Ekadashi Vrat Vidhi):🌼

 

  • According to the Puranas, one should not eat after sunset on the Dashami Tithi and should sleep while meditating on God at night. 
  • The person observing the Ekadashi fast should keep his mind calm and steady. Do not bring any kind of hatred or anger to mind. Avoid backbiting. 
  • In the morning, one should get up before sunrise and take a bath and wear clean clothes and light a ghee lamp in front of the idol of Lord Vishnu. 
  • Use Tulsi, seasonal fruits and sesame seeds in the worship of Lord Vishnu. 
  • One should not eat food on the day of the fast; if you wish, you can eat fruit after the evening worship. 
  • If you do not observe a fast for some reason, even then rice should not be used in food on Ekadashi. 
  • Raat vigil on Ekadashi is of great importance, so stay awake at night and sing bhajans in the praise of God. 
  • Reciting Vishnusahasranaam on Ekadashi gives special blessings of Lord Vishnu. 
  • Next day, i.e. on Dwadashi tithi, after feeding the Brahmins, eat your own food.
