Narasimha Jayanti is observed on Vaishakh Shukla Chaturdashi. Lord Vishnu’s fourth incarnation was Lord Narasimha. Lord Vishnu killed the demon Hiranyakashipu on the day of Narasimha Jayanti by taking the forms of Narasimha Ardh Singh (Lion) and Ardh Nara (Human).
For performing Narasimha Jayanti Vrat, the dates of Saturday, Vaishakh Shukla Chaturdashi, and Swati Nakshatra are seen to be very auspicious.
Similar to Ekadashi Vrat, Narasimha Jayanti Vrat has its own set of norms and regulations. Devotees only eat once a day the day before Narasimha Jayanti. During the Narasimha Jayanti Vrat, it is forbidden to eat any kind of grain or cereal. The rite of breaking the fast, or parana, is carried out the following day at the proper time.
Devotees worship Lord Narasimha in the evening before sunset on the day of Narasimha Jayanti, and they take Sankalp at Madhyahna, the Hindu noontime. It is believed that on Chaturdashi Tithi, Lord Narasimha emerged at sunset. It is also suggested to stay awake the whole night in this fast and perform Visarjan Puja the next day in the morning. The fast should be broken after performing Visarjan Puja and donating to a Brahmin the next day.
When Chaturdashi Tithi concludes the following day after sunrise, the Narasimha Jayanti fast is broken. After finishing the Jayanti rites, the fast is broken at any time after sunrise if Chaturdashi Tithi finishes before sunrise. The fast can only be broken in the morning if Chaturdashi is observed for more than three-fourths of the day or if it ends very late. The time between sunrise and dusk is known as the daytime.

It was impossible for Hiranyakashipu’s turmoil and the torment he inflicted on his son to continue.
To stop this abomination, the distressed gods turned to Lord Vishnu for assistance. They desired peace on all planets.
As the Universe’s Preserver, Lord Vishnu will not abandon his followers. In keeping with his role as the Preserver of the Universe, Lord Vishnu saved Prahaladha and the three worlds by assuming the shape of Narasimha, who is depicted as being half man and half beast.
One of Lord Vishnu’s many interludes to preserve dharma and ensure that good triumphs over evil is this avatar.
It has a lot of metaphorical meaning as well. Narasimha appears after Hiranyakashipu smashes the pillar to inquire if God resides there, demonstrating that God is, in fact, everywhere and constantly keeping watch over us.
This tale encourages us to act morally even in the face of difficulty. It gives us hope that good can triumph over evil and serves as a reminder to believe in something bigger when times are tough.
For many others, Narasimha’s narrative serves as a kind of compass. It provides children with courage and faith to face the challenges of life. It’s a timeless tale that never fails to encourage us to have courage and maintain our optimism.
