One of Maa Durga’s nine incarnations, Maa Kalratri, is honored on Day 7, or Saptami tithi, of Chaitra Navratri. The strongest manifestation of Goddess Parvati is Maa Kalratri. Saturn’s ruling goddess is said to have a dark complexion, be on a donkey, and have four hands—her left hand clutching a sword and a deadly iron hook, and her right hand in the Abhaya and Varada mudras.
Despite being the fiercest manifestation of Goddess Parvati, Goddess Kalratri is renowned for providing her devotees with everything they ask for, removing obstacles and hardships in their path. Maa Kalratri is said to protect her followers from all evil.
Goddess Kalratri is also known as Goddess Shubhankari due to her auspicious influence. Goddess Mahayogishwari and Goddess Mahayogini are some more names for her. The Queen of the Night is her flower. Lastly, offering prayers to Maa Kalratri brings happiness and protects the devotee from the negative effects of planets on their daily lives.

The seventh manifestation of Goddess Durga, also known as Goddess Kalratri or Goddess Kali, is honored on the seventh day of Navratri. She is a significant idol in Tantra Sadhna and the strongest manifestation of Goddess Durga.
Goddess Kalratri has a symbolic red tongue, is armed with weapons, and is adorned with a skull garland. It is said that Goddess Kalratri drives out all forms of evil energy, tantric effects, evil eyes, and traps from the area surrounding her devotee.
Devotees of Goddess Kalratri are said to receive bravery, strength, and protection from her. Her intense energy is also linked to her capacity to face obstacles head-on and conquer fear.

Invoking Ratri (night) as an all-powerful goddess, sage Kushika recognized the engulfing power of darkness during her meditation, according to the Rig Veda’s Ratri Suktam. Thus, the darkness that fell after sundown was elevated to godhood, and wise people called upon it to release people from their worries and earthly bonds. The goddess, who grants the desires of the hopefuls, rules over every stage of the night.
Later, Durga—who makes an appearance in the Atharva Veda—was linked to Ratridevi, also known as “Goddess Ratri” or “Goddess of the Night.” The color black is symbolic of the abyssal darkness that existed before creation.
By performing Durga Puja, one might invoke Goddess Kaalratri, who bestows to her devotee the ability to devour time and all that is essential. This makes it possible for the devotee to go through every challenge before succeeding.

The ancient tale states that after Raktbeej vanquished all the gods and stole their kingdom, the gods all complained to Mahadev ji about the demons. All the gods that came to see Lord Shiv Shankar inquired as to why they were there. Then the gods told Trilokinath about the horrors that Raktbeej had committed.
After learning of this, Lord Shiv Shankar asked Mother Parvati to destroy the demon right away and return the gods’ royal joys to them. Raktbeej was bestowed with the blessing that each drop of his blood that hits the earth will fertilize another Raktbeej. Hundreds of demons were born from the blood that Raktbeej’s body spilled onto the ground during Mother Durga’s execution of him. Then Goddess Parvati did penance there. Kalratri was born due to the intensity of the mother’s penance.
Then Kalratri was asked by Mother Parvati to eat those demons. Not a drop of his blood fell to the ground after his mother killed him; instead, she drank it all. This explains why the mother’s tongue is blood crimson in this form. So Mother Kalika began to slit the throats of demons on the battlefield as a garland of heads hung around her neck.
Raktbeej lost his life in the conflict in this way. We name this version of Maa Durga, Kaalratri. Two words make up Kaalratri. The first word is Kaal, which denotes “death,” the annihilator of ignorance. Another word for the mother is Raatri, who is shown as a representation of the ominous hue of the night. The form of Kaalratri shows that a compassionate mother can also be extremely violent and fierce to protect her children when needed.
