The eleventh day of Shukla Paksha in the month of Ashada is Devshayani Ekadashi. Ashadi Ekadashi, Maha Ekadashi, Toli Ekadashi, Padma Ekadashi, Devpodhi Ekadashi, and Hari Sayana Ekadasi are some more names for it. This day marks the conclusion of Maharashtra’s yearly Padharpur Yatra, or sacred pilgrimage to the Padharpur temple. This day is known as Toli Ekadashi in the south. The prisoners in Vaishnavite Mutts are required by tradition to have taped seals, known as Tapta Mudra Dharana, burned on their body. On this day, it is thought that Lord Vishnu decides to take a lengthy nap in the Ksheer Sagar, or milky ocean. As a result, it is thought that this day is perfect for offering prayers to Lord Vishnu and Mata Mahalakshmi. The four months of the Lord’s sleep are referred to as Yoga-Nidra.
