🌅 The Passion: A Good Friday Story 🌅
“Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” – John
🏞️ The Calm Before the Storm🏞️
Jerusalem was celebrating Passover, a holy holiday commemorating God’s deliverance of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery. Travelers, merchants, families, and priests filled the bustling metropolis. Jesus of Nazareth, the teacher who cured the sick, pardoned sinners, and spoke of a kingdom not created by humans, was one of them.
They discussed him in whispers; was he the Messiah? The one selected? The temple’s leaders feared him. As his fame increased, so did the threat he faced.
🍷 The Last Supper 🍷
Jesus met his twelve disciples in a room upstairs on Thursday night. There was nothing like the lunch they ate together.
He bathed their feet, a duty that only the lowest servant should perform. They took aback.
“This is my body, broken for you,” Jesus remarked after breaking the bread.
“This is my blood, poured out for the forgiveness of sins,” he declared, raising the cup of wine.
They felt burdened in their hearts even if they didn’t fully understand. They felt burdened in their hearts even if they didn’t fully understand. Jesus mentioned treachery. Judas, one of them, would turn him over. The others pledged allegiance. But that night, someone would put them all to the test.
🌃 The Garden of Gethsemane 🌃
Jesus prayed so fervently under the olive trees later that evening that his perspiration resembled drops of blood. “Please, Father, let me have this cup if you can. However, I won’t someone will do yours.
The darkness drew closer as he prayed. Judas brought soldiers with him. He betrayed Jesus by kissing him in greeting. Authorities took Jesus into custody without a fight. His followers ran away in terror.
⚖️ The Trial of the Innocent ⚖️
Authorities pulled Jesus through the night from one to another, including Pilate, Herod, the Sanhedrin, and Pilate again. Authorities pulled Jesus through the night from one to another, including Pilate, Herod, the Sanhedrin, and Pilate again. The mob yelled, “Crucify him!” despite the fact that they saw nothing wrong with him.
Pilate complied with the conditions despite his reluctance. He crucified Jesus and freed a convict named Barabbas to appease the populace.
👑 The Crown of Thorns 👑
Jesus was ridiculed by the soldiers. They beat him, put a crown of thorns on his head, and clothed him in a purple robe. They mocked, “Hail, King of the Jews!”
Jesus was made to carry his own cross through the congested streets of Jerusalem while he was bruised, bleeding, and hardly able to stand. People observed. Some people cried. Some made fun of it.
✝️ The Crucifixion at Calvary ✝️
They put him to the cross at a location known as Golgotha, which translates to “The Skull.”
There were criminals on either side of him. While one laughed, the other said, “Keep me in mind when you enter your kingdom.”
“You will be with me in paradise today,” Jesus murmured, turning to face him.
Jesus prayed for his executioners as he hung on the cross, saying, “Father, forgive them—they don’t know what they’re doing.”
From noon till 3 p.m., darkness descended on the country.
With one last exclamation—“It’s done!” — Jesus’ spirit was given up. The ground trembled. From top to bottom, the temple curtain ripped in two. Graves cracked open. “Really, this was the Son of God,” even the Roman centurion declared.
🌌 A World in Mourning 🌌
They removed the body of Jesus and covered it with linen. One of the covert followers, Joseph of Arimathea, volunteered his own tomb. The entrance was sealed with a big stone. There were guards on duty.
The weight of silence was felt throughout the planet. He seemed to have buried hope. His supporters were dispersed and in mourning.
However, there was a stirring. They kept a pledge in their minds: “I will rise on the third day.”
✨ The Deeper Meaning ✨
A story of selfless love, hope through adversity, and brightness concealed in darkness, Good Friday is more than just a tale of sorrow.
Despite the sadness and quiet that permeate this day, Christians everywhere cling to the Easter promise that love will triumph over death.
🌿 Good Friday Today🌿
Churches now have solemn services. People use black to drape crosses. The candles have gone out. People walk in silence, pray, and think.
However, there is a faint pulse of happiness through the silence—for those who are aware of the conclusion, Sunday is approaching.

“Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; He has risen!” – Luke
🌌 The Silent Wait (Saturday Night) 🌌
Saturday was a calm, sorrowful day following the burial of Jesus on Friday night. His supporters felt bewildered and heartbroken. They had lost the man they had followed, whom they had dubbed Messiah. Darkness seemed to prevail, Roman soldiers stationed themselves, and they shut the tomb.
Heaven, however, was already in motion.
🌄 Early Sunday Morning 🌄
On Sunday, the calm air greeted the dimly lit sky as dawn broke.
Three ladies approached Jesus’ tomb: Salome, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James. Their hearts were heavy with grief, and their arms were laden with oils and spices.
However, they discovered something unexpected when they arrived at the tomb:
They rolled the stone away.
There were no Roman guards.
They also deserted the mausoleum.
Two angels in glittering garments suddenly materialized in front of them. The angels murmured as the women collapsed to the ground in terror:
“Don’t let fear control you.” You’re searching for the crucified Jesus. He has risen, just as He promised, thus He is not here!
💐 First Witnesses 💐
The women hurried to tell the disciples in astonishment and delight. At first, they didn’t believe the others since it seemed too good to be true.
John and Peter, however, ran to the tomb. John got there first and peered inside. Peter entered. Jesus left, but the linen cloth stayed.
Mary Magdalene stayed at the tomb later that day, crying. Behind her, a man emerged. She mistook him for the gardener.
“Mary,” he said.
When she turned, Jesus was there.
She exclaimed, “Rabboni!” which translates to “Teacher” in Hebrew.
He was still alive.
🚶 On the Road to Emmaus 🚶
Two disciples were making their way to the hamlet of Emmaus that same day. A stranger joined them as they were walking. What were they discussing, he inquired?
They informed him about Jesus, including their aspirations, his crucifixion, and the perplexing revelation of his empty tomb.
The stranger started explaining the scriptures while they conversed, showing how everything that occurred was a part of God’s plan.
They asked him to dinner when they got to the village.
They opened their eyes when he broke the bread at the table—it was Jesus!
They rushed back to Jerusalem to proclaim to the others, “We have seen the Lord!” as he vanished from their view.
Jesus Appears to the Disciples
Later, as the disciples gathered in a locked room, Jesus appeared among them.
He said, “May peace be with you.”
They were in awe. He revealed his side and hands to them. He joined them for dinner. He soothed their hearts.
Jesus appeared to many people throughout the course of the following forty days, including more than 500 followers at once, on a Galilean Mountain, and at the Sea of Tiberias. He gave them a mission, inspired them, and taught them:
“Go into all the world and make disciples of all nations.”
