💐Significance Of Indira Ekadashi💐

An important Hindu holiday known as the Indira Ekadashi vrat bestows wealth and prosperity on the observer. A person can cleanse themselves of all sins and release their ancestors from the consequences of their own transgressions by keeping this auspicious vrat. Therefore, one should observe the Indira Ekadashi vrat with great devotion if they wish to rid their ancestors of all wrongdoing and finally provide them peace.

According to Hindu texts, following the Indira Ekadashi vrat yields the same benefits as completing the “Ashwamedha Yagya” for devotionals. This indicates that this Ekadashi fast is more significant than previous Ekadashi vrats. Even more, the significance of Indira Ekadashi is mentioned in the “Brahmavaivarta Purana” and is something that Lord Sri Krishna himself informed Yudhishtira.

🍀Rituals of Indira Ekadashi:🍀

  • The person who observes this vrat performs the Shraddh rituals on Indira Ekadashi. To get the greatest advantages, the devotees must observe the vrat by performing all of the prescribed rites. Lord Vishnu’s idol is worshipped with great enthusiasm and joy on this day. Together with other necessary items for puja, the devotees present the idol with fruits, flowers, and Tulsi leaves. This day also requires a visit to any Lord Vishnu temple.

  • The day before the Indira Ekadashi, or “dashami” (10th day), is when the vrat begins. Prayers are said and ceremonies for deceased ancestors are carried out on Dashami. Only before sunrise is the meal consumed because the devotees observe a strict fast on Ekadashi day. After worshiping Lord Vishnu, the vrat comes to a conclusion on the following day, known as “dwadashi,” at daybreak. Prior to eating, food is served to priests and animals on Pitru Paksha day.

  • The devotees rise early before dawn on the day of Indira Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu is honored on this day, and worship is offered to the Lord by singing bhajans and Vedic mantras. This vrat’s observer is expected to remain up all night singing devotional songs and hearing tales of Lord Vishnu. There is another belief that reading “Vishnu Sahastranaam” is auspicious.

  •  On this day, special rituals and prayers are performed in the memory of the dead ancestors. The afternoon time is  favourable for praying to the forefathers.
