?Varalakshmi Vrat Katha?

South India and Maharashtra are home to the distinctive Hinduism of Varalakshmi Vrat. Numerous mythological tales are connected to this fast, but we’re going to tell you about the most exquisite one. Mahadev told this tale to Goddess Parvati himself. According to this tale, the creation of the city of Kundi may have been made possible by divine intervention in the kingdom of Magadha.

A woman named Charumati lived with her whole family in this town called Kundi. Devoted to Goddess Lakshmi, Charumati would immerse herself in her daily devotion. She used to serve her husband and in-laws every day, living the perfect life.

Charumati once had a dream in which she received the darshan of Goddess Lakshmi while she was asleep. In her dream, the Goddess informed her of this Varalakshmi Vrat and urged her to heed its teachings. The following morning, Charumati recalled what Goddess Lakshmi had stated.

The Varalakshmi Vrat was subsequently explained to all the other women in the town by Charumati. The women all consented to worship the goddess Lakshmi. Charumati and the other women then began keeping the Varalakshmi Vrat properly in order to prepare for the worship of Goddess Lakshmi.

When all of the women began walking around the Kalash following the conclusion of the ceremonial worship, they noticed that their bodies were covered in gold decorations. All of their homes were constructed of gold, and a variety of animals, including horses and elephants, began to wander in front of them. The other women were shocked to see this scene and began applauding Charumati because she was the one who had quickly informed them about it.

Then Charumati explained to those women that Mother Lakshmi’s grace is responsible for all of this. Subsequently, ladies began to observe this fast with tremendous devotion as the fame of Varalakshmi Vrat began to spread from city to city. Since then, the Dashami Tithi of the month of Shravan has been used to commemorate Varalakshmi Vrat.
