?Vat Savitri’s vrat katha?
The Vat Savitri fast is held on the new moon day of the Jyeshtha month, as per the Hindu calendar. Married ladies now worship the Badrag tree in hopes of their husbands’ long life and health. She also asks the banyan tree to grant her husband and kids continued happiness. Worshiping the banyan tree and hearing the short story are considered auspicious on this day.
The ruler of the Bhadra kingdom was the renowned philosopher, Ashwapati. He was not as happy as someone who had a child. He was blessed with a daughter by Savitri Devi after he underwent 18 years of intense penance for this. As a result, the girl was given the name Savitri after birth. The girl matured and developed a stunning appearance. The king’s failure to find a suitable groom kept him depressed. The girl was dispatched to locate the groom by the monarch himself. It was in the jungle when he encountered Satyavan. He agreed to marry Satyavan, Dyumatsen’s son.
Sage Narad ji informed Ashwapati about Satyavan’s brief life after learning of this incident. Despite the parents’ extensive explanations, Savitri remained steadfast in her faith. The king was forced to submit to his obstinacy.
Satyavan and Savitri were married. Satyavan was strong, pious, and upright. He looked after his folks completely. After leaving the castle and arriving at a hut in the jungle, Savitri abandoned her clothing and decorations and began serving her father-in-law and mother-in-law, who are blind.
When Guru Narad ji learned of this incident, he informed Ashwapati about Satyavan’s brief life. Savitri remained steadfast in her faith despite the parents’ extensive explanations. The king had to give in to his obstinacy.
Satyavan was married to Savitri. Satyavan was a powerful, devout, and moral person. He looked after his folks. After leaving the palace, Savitri arrived at a hut in the jungle, where she used to serve her blind father-in-law and mother-in-law while giving up her clothes and decorations.
He repeatedly refused, but Savitri insisted that I follow my husband wherever he went. Savitri persisted in following him in spite of his repeated denials. When Yama saw how devoted and true Savitri was to her husband, she gave her father-in-law and blind in-laws eyes one by one, returned their lost kingdom, and asked them to see Savitri. How did he get back? Savitri was being taken away by Yamraj.
Savitri requested the blessing of 100 children and good prosperity after Yamraj once more stated that she may ask for everything she desired, with the exception of Satyavan. Without hesitation, Yama said “Amen” in joy. Committed Yamraj began to take action. “Lord, you have blessed me with a daughter, and I am a faithful wife,” Savitri remarked. After learning of this, Yamraj was forced to give up Satyavan’s life. Savitri approached the same banyan tree that had once held her husband’s lifeless body.
The parents experienced divine light and regained their kingdom, while Satyavan returned to life. Savitri and Satyavan were able to prolong their enjoyment of the kingdom’s bliss in this way. So, like the devout Savitri, begin other traditions in addition to properly adoring your father-in-law and mother-in-law. All marital issues are avoided for the individual keeping the fast by keeping the Vat Savitri fast and hearing this story.
