Kamika Ekadashi Vrat Vidhi:
- Get up early in the morning, take a bath after relieving yourself, and take a vow to fast.
- Bathe the idol of Lord Vishnu with Gangajal.
- Remember, worship and praise Lord Vishnu by lighting a lamp.
- Offer Tulsi leaves and perform Vishnu Aarti.
- Light a lamp in front of Lord Vishnu and worship him in the evening.
- Recite the Sahasranaam of Vishnu.
- On the day of Dwadashi, purify yourself and break the fast at the time of Vrat Parana Muhurta.
- Distribute Prasad and feed Brahmins and give them donations.

A very strong Kshatriya lived in a village. One day he had a scuffle with a Brahmin, and the Brahmin died. The idea of performing the last rites of the Brahmin after his death came to his mind. But the other Pandits stopped him from doing so. Also, he was told that you are guilty of Brahmahatya. First, you must get rid of this sin. For this, you will have to do penance.
On this, the Kshatriya asked what the ways are to get rid of sin. Then the Brahmins told that on Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month, by fasting and worshipping Lord Vishnu with devotion, feeding Brahmins, and getting blessings with Dakshina, you will get freedom from this sin. The Kshatriya observed the fast as told by the Pandits. Then Lord Vishnu appeared to that Kshatriya and told him that you have got freedom from Brahmin murder. There are beliefs that by observing this fast, one gets freedom from the biggest sin, like Brahmahatya. It is said that by reading and listening to this fasting story, a person attains heaven.
